God is not your sugar daddy

I am worn out by the teaching that - as long as you're following God, you'll have everything you need. Or, do God's will and everything works out. Or, just trust God and in the end it'll all be okay.

I mean. Maybe. In the end. Maybe.

But the end is a long, long way from here. And as far as I can tell, the bible actually tells us a whole lot about suffering and living in faith. And in Hebrews 11, it celebrates those who lived in faith without ever seeing their promises realized.

"Walking with God" is not all sunshine and roses.

Stop teaching people that as they "obey God" (which is too often conveniently monitored by self-seeking gatekeepers), then they'll have everything they need.

Cause there will be a day when they do *not* have everything they need. In fact, there may be more days than not when they don't have their needs met. Days, months, YEARS - when they are breaking into a thousand pieces because life is hard and people are awful and there is so much pain and tragedy and we are not promised rainbows and sunshine in this life.

The reality of God should not be based on the shallow, false implication that our needs are met if we follow Him.
